New Safety Alert System at Ranney Falls Dam 10

Aug 25, 2023

CAMPBELLFORD – Parks Canada wishes to advise the public of an upcoming installation and testing of a new safety alert system at Ranney Falls Dam 10 on Trent Drive in Campbellford, Ontario, during the week of June 5 to June 9.

This alert system is being installed to warn members of the public with noticeable light and sound in the event of a future release of water from the dam. Should water suddenly be released, a horn will sound, and a strobe light will flash.

Residents in the vicinity of Ranney Falls Dam 10, located slightly upstream from the Ranney Falls Flight Lock (Locks 11-12) in Campbellford, may observe flashing lights and the sound of the horn during the testing period.

Roadway traffic and boat navigation will be unaffected. We thank area residents and visitors for their understanding and patience.

Parks Canada is leading this important infrastructure work to ensure safe, high-quality experiences for visitors by improving heritage, visitor, waterway, and highway assets located within national historic sites, national parks, and national marine conservation areas, including investments in Trent-Severn Waterway National Historic Site in Campbellford.
