LOCK HAVEN — The annual Flags of Honor event always has strong community support, and this year it's stronger than ever with a record number of 158 flags in Triangle Park for Memorial Day Weekend!

Everyone is encouraged to stroll among the flags in the park, and to attend the Memorial Observance there Sunday at noon. Something new is planned.

All the sponsor families are especially invited to the program, and the general public is very welcome. Be sure to bring a lawn chair. Members of the Rotary Club of Downtown Lock Haven will welcome everyone and distribute the official booklets which list the flag sponsors and the names of those honored.

Vocalist Kimberly Vance will open the program at noon with the National Anthem. Rotary Area Governor Diahann Claghorn will emcee.

New participants this year are SPC Nathaniel Noel, SSG Nikki Litz, and SFC Charles Bryant of A Company, 337th Engineer Battalion, Pennsylvania National Guard. They will explain the meaning of each fold of the flag.

Flags of Honor is a project of the Rotary Club of Downtown Lock Haven, with support from "Angel Partner" Nestlerode Contracting Co. This year, Signs & Designs of Mill Hall was also named an Angel Partner.

Redmond's Complete Comfort has earned the Gold Medal Sponsor status for sponsoring 22 flags.

Corporate sponsors who support the 2023 project are Woodlands Bank, Dr. David Rockey, DMD, Redmond's Complete Comfort, Beiter's Furniture Mattress Appliance, Diversified Asset Planners, Turbulence Studio, Fox's Market House Restaurant, SWC Realty, The Bus Stops Here, Lumberjack Lifestyles, Miller Brothers Auto Sales, Murray Motors Lock Haven, Davis Real Estate, Inc., Arby's Lock Haven and Reese's Print Shop.

Proceeds from Flags of Honor benefit local non-profits and worthy causes.
